August 2008 Waccasassa- At last I have a few moments to settle down and update you on the Church at Waccasassa! You may have noticed that I have not posted since May! That's because as soon as school let out for the summer, we began to plan the 2008 Stay At Home Missions Camp. It took from May to July to finalize the many aspects of the camp.

In addition, the ministry at Waccasassa continued week in and week out. I am content that Jesus left the 99 for the 1, but it was awesome when one of our Sunday meetings saw a full house! Praise the Lord! I am so encouraged by the folks that come from near and far to support the work by lifting up Jesus' name with us! We are now beginning to seek the Lord about permanent building plans.

Wednesday nights have continued with a new twist: home movies! The kids and I have made some short films that illustrate some of the parables of Jesus on a kid's level. The kids at Waccasassa loved them. In addition, we have enjoyed "Animals that Defy Evolution" videos. We also tried some Bible drills and group games. They really caught on!

But let me tell you about the 4th of July!!!  One of the brothers hosted a church cookout across the street from where the Waccasassa neighborhood fireworks show was to be displayed. We had a great time including a gospel hayride around the lake singing and playing over the PA system, the best ribs I have ever had, kids playing in the pool and a chance to preach from the hay trailer over the PA to all who attended the fireworks/cookout event. As soon as the last word of prayer ended, the first report sounded and the impressive display began. Later, the fireworks guy said they had been listening to the message and were waiting for us to begin the display. Awesome! We were all really amazed at the quality and quantity of the show! I got it on video and at the request of the fireworks folks was able to share a copy with them. It was sweet!!

As camp week drew closer, we praised the Lord for our LP generator. We were able to build a permanent enclosure for the unit and we had the tank set before camp. I am thankful for all of the help in getting it set up and keeping it running. Also, the Lord provided for our gas bill!

Construction Track Stay At Home Missions Camp 2008
Featuring Waccasassa Youth

We were able to enroll two young men from Waccasassa in the Stay At Home Missions Camp this year. What a praise! It was a joy to be with them and 116+ campers from Bronson Road, 1st Baptist of Archer, Morriston Baptist, Windsor Baptist and of course my beloved JOPPA!!!! We also had several from Monteocha and Williston, Old Providence and Oak Park.

One of the tracks for camp was to send a group to Waccasassa to host VBS for 3 days. The track reported they had a great time and were able to minister to kids from the neighborhood daily. This is the first VBS we have had and I can't wait until next year!

God truly poured out a blessing on us with testimonies that I pray I will never forget. I believe everyone that came to camp was blessed in one way or another. The sound Bible teaching, solid Bible preaching, sweet singing, serving and fellowship, excellent meals and supernatural cooperation were a testimony to the Lordship of our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you, Lord, for all who served.

Camp week ended with our first MOVIE NIGHT last Friday night. We had popcorn from a real popcorn machine, a table full of free concession snax, featurettes of Popeye cartoons, our Wednesday night movies and Creation videos as well as the feature presentation: Facing the Giants. This is the 7th time I have seen it and I still cry and cheer as I relate to the story! It was a full house and we had a wonderful time in the Lord.

It has been a wonderful summer. Busy in the service of the Lord, I am so thankful to have had the time to devote to Him. Lord willing, I will resume school duties August 11th and am looking forward to this ministry.

Please remember Maralena and I. We are prayerfully pursuing the possibility of moving to the neighborhood. There is a house available that we are delighted with and have put our home in Fanning Springs up for sale.

Blessings,
Brother Robb
